Identity?

Is an identity created through who you believe you are or by how you are perceived? Are you honest enough with yourself to evoke a constructive critic? Do I know you inner most secrets? What is an identity? Cultural, gender, psychological?
This is what wikipedia says....Identity is an umbrella term used throughout the social sciences for an individual's comprehension of him or herself as a discrete, separate entity. In cognitive psychology, for example, "identity" refers to the capacity for self-reflection and the awareness of self (see self-awareness).

So your identity is completely up to you? Could it be as simple as the change in hair colour or opinion? I must admit I 'label' myself. I see myself both included and excluded from varying social and cultural groups. If I was to alter my opinions does my identity change also? What if that opinion was of myself. If identity is self-reflection, it would.

Nobody knows what I'm on about.

No body knows what I'm on about but I s'pose that really just mirrors the fact that I don't know myself. My head is a mess. This blog is primarilly for uni-for those unaware-and so I post mainly from frustration, occassionally with revelation.
Studies is meant to take you out of your comfort zone, have you recognise the rhyzome that is life and ok, it's doing that but it's a head trip.
A couple of weeks ago we watched an entire movie about four millionaires who were attempting to commit suicide through over indulgence of food. Entirely in french, the subtitles provided a slight distraction from the sex scenes and the massive consumption of mashed potato. The relevance? French cuisine-not relevant to me. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the film. Not because it was oscar quality but it initiated conversation. The kind of conversation not derived from standard hollywood films. But the question of it's relevance (is that not what class is?) was what puzzled me.
